Seldom plain, and never simple

Well, here's a thing: Bonni at BareNakedIslam reporting a story from Palestine which actually appears to be based on fact (as a little Googling will show).

Of course, as this is Bonni you can be pretty certain that all is not quite as it seems: not quite "Muslim savages" attacking "Jewish villagers". For a start, the "Jewish villagers" are residents of one of the illegal "outposts" (aka terrorist training camps). While that doesn't make beating them up a civic duty, it does remove from them the automatic right to the mantle of "innocent victim". And if we look for other stories from the Esh Kodesh "outpost", we find that the Jewish terrorists have quite a record. Hell, even the Israeli courts, not normally prejudiced in favour of Palestinians, recently increased the sentence of one of these "villagers" for kidnapping a Palestinian child, beating him severely, and for good measure torturing and killing one of his sheep. Just under a year ago the Esh Kodesh terrorists prevented the Palestinian locals from harvesting their olive crop: not by throwing stones or yelling abuse, but by shooting at them with live ammunition. That incident was evidently reported as a "clash" between villagers and settlers, with the IDF weighing in with tear gas (and either causing, or failing to prevent, the destruction of the Palestinians' olive groves).

So the present incident? Well, Israel's Ynet News described it thus:

Residents of the Esh Kodesh outpost clashed with residents of Kfar Kusra claiming that the Palestinians had attacked a group of settlers. IDF forces that arrived on the scene were pelted with stones by the village residents but successfully dispersed the rioters.

Meanwhile, Molotov cocktails were hurled at an IDF post in Hebron and a private vehicle near Neve Tzuf. No injuries or damage were reported. (Itamar Fleishman
)

It isn't totally clear whether it's the Jewish or the Palestinian "residents" who pelted the soldiers with stones, though probably it was the Palestinians. The Molotov cocktails, on the other hand, could just as easily be another "price tag" attack by Jewish Israeli terrorists as anything to do with the Palestinian locals.

So even if the indigenous Arabs did indeed attack the illegal incomers, it appears that their motivation will have been not so much the Israelis' non-existent right to be there as their tendency to assault the locals, often and with vicious severity (and massive firepower).

One of Bonni's commenters asks: "Why aren’t the villagers armed and shooting back?", evidently failing to spot that the "villagers" (ie illegal outpost terrorists) are armed to the teeth (like their fellows in all the other camps) and indeed trigger-happy (when they have unarmed Palestinian farmers and teenagers to attack). Of course, if the actual villagers armed themselves and started to shoot back their village and all its occupants (whether adult, child, infirm or elderly) would be burned to the ground.
