Not too shabby

Great day today. Hilary and I took our son Ruairidh, plus his drum kit which occupied all the remaining space in our large car, to Stirling where he had a gig this afternoon with the Robin Robertson Blues Band. While I had seen all the band members except Brian the bassist performing with other bands at different times, and while I had seen RRBB on video, this was actually the first time I'd seen them live. The gig was at Nicky Tam's, a bar in the centre of Stirling: a pretty small space, and at least initially a pretty small audience. Part of the trouble may have been folk staying in to watch the Euro 2012 football: more of it may have been that the publicity in the bar just listed Robin's name, so some people were expecting a singer-songwriter. Anyway, once things were under way the audience grew, and we/they were always enthusiastic. (Or as one of them yelled out after a number, "Not too shabby!") The band were marvellous, but then I knew they would be.

Judge for yourselves. Here are a couple of video clips of the band, taken about six weeks ago and playing songs they did today.

And then we rounded the afternoon off with a terrific Italian meal in a restaurant just round the corner. (Thanks to Dot for the recommendation.)
